Puzzle mugs have appeared in many forms, in many countries over the centuries. They were popular with English potters and were made in the 1800's as a joke or trick mug; an appreciated novelty in pubs. Despite the holes in the body of the mug, there is a way to drink from the mug if the secret can be discovered! Each mug is slightly different, using one of several different hole patterns. Each mug comes with a poem card, as pictured in the photo and detailed instructions on how to drink from the puzzle mug, in a sealed envelope. Very entertaining when sprung on the unwary!
