Raku Pendant Necklaces and Wholesale Raku Pendants and Beads

Each necklace is one-of-a-kind and features a handmade, porcelain, raku fired pendant. Many of the pendants feature tear-drop shaped glass beads that dangle on copper wire from a small hole in the pendant. The glass beads all have a metallic or iridescent sheen on them that complement the raku glazes nicely. Some pendants have a dangle of actual metal gears.

Charms, connectors, drops, earrings and beads are handmade as well and can be made with several different styles of loops, bails or hole orientations.

Raku glazes are gorgeous and unpredictable in their color range and opalescent, iridescent and metallic effects. In raku firing, pieces are removed from the kiln while still glowing-hot and placed into a reduction chamber (ours is a large metal garbage can filled with newspaper). The newspaper surrounding the pieces bursts into flame and is allowed to burn briefly, then smothered. The resulting reduction atmosphere changes the glazes, giving them metallic, irridescent or opalescent effects and, on some glazes, a fine crackle pattern. Glazes can vary wildly, even within the same firing and so the results are always exciting.
